NRE Undergraduate Program

Nuclear and radiological engineers are concerned with the production and application of nuclear energy, the protection from radiation and the applications of radiation in medicine and industry. In the BS in Nuclear and Radiological Engineering program undergraduate students can participate in undergraduate research, study abroad, work abroad, internships, co-operative work assignments and the BS/MS program.

NRE Curriculum

The change in the curriculum lies in the opportunity for students to elect to expand their knowledge beyond nuclear & radiological engineering, pursuing interests in multidisciplinary topics, and selecting to deeply concentrate in one specialized area of nuclear engineering

NRE Academic Advisors

Our mission is to support and inspire the development of Woodruff School undergraduate students. We will actively engage students in their educational experience so they can become independent, life-long learners and contributing members in their larger community.

NRE Registration

Mechanical Engineering does not remove their major restrictions at any time during the registration process.  Students from other majors who wish to take ME or NRE classes may request a permit to override the major restriction.  Permits are only given to non-lab classes and are evaluated on an individual basis.

NRE Tutoring

The Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering is able to offer tutoring in the ME and COE classes.  Tutoring runs through the last official day of class (excluding final exams, official school breaks and reading days).

Undergraduate NRE Research

The Nuclear and Radiological Engineering program has students who do undergraduate research each semester.  Undergraduate research is a search or discovery of new information; an adventure into solving real world problems.  Having research experience is critical when applying for graduate and professional schools and is impressive to prospective employers as well.  All students must have a permit to register for research.
